China's steel exports soared to 10.153 million metric tons in September 2023, marking a 26% year-on-year increase and the highest monthly figure since 2016. Meanwhile, steel imports in September totaled 554,000 mt, up 8.8% from the previous month.

Wire rod exports from Brazil fell significantly in September, dropping to 9,800 mt compared to 16,000 mt in August. Exports mainly went to South America, Dominican Republic, and Canada. Key exporters include ArcelorMittal, Simec, and Gerdau. Meanwhile, Brazil imported 21,100 mt of wire rod in September, with China and Egypt being major sources. Unused import quotas suggest a decline in wire rod imports over the coming months.
